Greyhound and Peter Pan offer several buses daily from their main depot downtown and the Baltimore Travel Plaza in Dundalk to the Port Authority in NYC. Expect to pay about $40-50 each way for a ticket. A new service, Baltimore Trails, offers round-trip service from several area locations to midtown Manhattan for $35 -- Also try the Dragon Coach, which drops you off in Chinatown, but costs about half as much. Check www.greyhound.com, www.peterpan.com, and www.1stravel.com for details. 2. The Hunt Valley Motor Coach offers coach service for day trips to New York from stops in Pikesville and Security for about $45. Your travel options are limited by their schedule -- they leave Baltimore early in the morning and depart from New York early in the evening -- but for a quick trip it's not a bad deal. See www.huntvalleymotorcoach.com for details. 3. If you want to get there fast, you can hop on an Amtrak train at Penn Station in downtown Baltimore and get off in New York a couple hours later. It's considerably pricier than the bus, but quicker and much more comfortable. Check www.amtrak.com for fares and schedules. From NY City to White Plains... http://mta.info/mnr/html/mnrmap.htm

the direction is up not down and yes you can take amtrack to NYC and then take Metro North train to White Plains
3 :
Take Amtrak to NYC and get off at Pennsylvania Station. Take the subway shuttle from that train station to Grand Central Station, which is a different train station. Take the Metro North to White Plains.

it doesnt cost that much but since you travel through the states 60-140
2 :
1102 miles approximately 55 gallons of gas the cost depends on how much gas costs as price seems to change on a daily basis
3 :
MapQuest says it's 1100 miles and estimates fuel cost for your vehicle at $140.58. Add in some money for tolls if you will be going through any; money for food along the way; and money for motels/hotels if you are not planning to drive straight through. If it were me, I'd figure on stopping for two or three nights, and you can find relatively inexpensive motels for under a hundred a night.

you can see if they have amtrak going from pittsburgh to baltimore! i am sure they do :) if i were you i would price it out because both methods of traveling can become very pricey and very time consuming (especially traveling by train) and you will also need to make sure that if you do take a train, it has air conditioning since you will be traveling in mid august. hope this helped!

301 south is a prettier drive, and you will avoid any traffic jams on this holiday weekend. However there are stoplights all the way. 95 south is more direct, but you can hit traffic around DC and Richmond. Just try to plan the route so that you don't hit them at bad times. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=s&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-bk-gm&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=google%20maps

take the lightrail into bwi then take a cab or you can always just take the train from penn station to dc its not that expensive.heck id drive better yet take greyhoumd they usually do this on the cheap.
2 :
take the marc train, I think you can pick it up by the light rail stop by camden yards, so if you are downtown already, you can walk to the Marc
3 :
Save the hassle and take a cab or drive. The MARC trains don't run on the weekends, and Amtrak and Greyhound cost more than the half-tank of gas.

The best/easiest way would be Amtrak, which goes from Penn Station in Baltimore and goes to Union Station in Washington. The cost should be $15 or so and takes about 45 minutes. (Don't bother with the Acela high speed trains - they only save you about 10 minutes and cost nearly twice as much). Both train stations are in the downtown part of each city and connect to other local transit as well. There are several trains a day. Greyhound bus has even more frequent service than Amtrak. It costs only a couple dollars less, and takes about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes or so (depending on if there is a stop along the way). The major drawback is that the station in Washington is less convenient than Union Station. (Actually the same goes for Baltimore. Plus the bus stations are more sketchy than the train stations, and Amtrak is more pleasant in general). In any case, these options are going to probably be your best bet.
